What families pay elsewhere
Passbox Family costs €10 a year for the whole family, however many people belong to it. Family plans elsewhere stop at five or six people:

FAQ
Questions, answered
What does a family pay?
€1 a month or €10 a year for the whole family on the hosted service, however many people join. Guests such as the babysitter are free. On your own server, Passbox is free for any number of people.
How does that compare with other family plans?
Bitwarden Families costs $47.88 a year for up to 6 people, Proton Pass Family $59.88 for up to 6 and 1Password Families $71.88 for up to 5 (list prices with yearly billing, as of 24 October 2026). Passbox Family costs €10 a year with no limit on people. All comparisons.
Can the organizer see my private vault?
Not in normal use. Your private vault is encrypted with keys only you have, and the organizer only sees what is in the family vault. Recovery through the family is on by default, so the organizer can help you set a new master password if you forget it. To be clear: an organizer who approves a recovery could technically read your data. Every recovery is logged, you get an email, and you can turn it off in Settings.
What happens to our passwords if something happens to me?
Set up emergency access for someone you trust. If they request access and you don't decline within the waiting period, they can read the vaults you chose. Nobody else, including us, can open them.
Give your family a safe place for passwords.
€1 a month for the whole family, or free on your own server.
